EC gives clean chit to Deora over fuel remark

Election commission of India clearly stated that Petroleum Minister of India,Murali Deora did not did not violate the Model Code of Conduct when he referred to taking a decision on the fuel prices after assembly polls in six states.
The news from the Election Commission sources said that the Commission Officials looked into the video clippings of Deora addressing people and found no substance in the complaint made against him.He came under attack by the opposition party leaders last week for his remarks on fuel prices after the conclusion of assembly polls.
The sources said that the Minister did not announce that a reduction would be effected. He only said that a decision on the issue would be taken after the polls.
Opposition BJP had approached the EC seeking action action against Deora following which the Commission sought explanation from the minister.
In his reply, Deora said he had not violated the Model Code of Conduct for elections saying he indicated only a likely review of fuel prices by government after the polls to six state Assemblies and did not announce a policy decision or financial grant. As the situation is going like this, the price of Cude oil barrel as of today is about 47 dollars which is the lowest rate in the past six months.
